POCKET PROJECTION

While “palm-top” projectors have recently made a splash in the projection marketplace, consumer demand points to brighter, smaller and more affordable projection devices. Target applications for pocket projectors range from compact units for business presentations to personal entertainment displays. A new class of even smaller “embedded” projectors will be integrated into mobile phones and other similarly sized devices, allowing users to watch streaming video, digital TV or surf the web.
Necsel breaks new ground in miniature projection by providing high-power, efficient output from a compact, affordable package. In fact, current palm-top projectors based on LED lighting measure over 30 cubic inches, produce around 20 lumens, and cost in excess of $700.00. Necsel prototypes display a light output of over 200 lumens with both device size and cost cut in half.
Necsel can also be coupled with 2D MEMS scanning technology to enable “embedded” projectors. Since Necsel is inherently small, bright and its light output can be directly modulated for gray scaling, it is the only light source to date that makes possible these revolutionary devices. The result is a new category of ultra-compact projector that produces brilliant, colorful, high-contrast images that are always in focus, even on curved surfaces.
